Chelsea Talaski is an AmeriCorps VISTA serving with the Poplar School District in Poplar and is originally from Michigan. As a VISTA in the school district, she works to increase parent and community involvement in student education to decrease the high student drop-out rate. She believes that AmeriCorps is important to rural Montana because each community has unique strengths that can be used to combat the many issues that rural Montanans may face. AmeriCorps is often essential in providing the necessary tools and framework to help each community best utilize their community assets through the amazing men and women who serve with AmeriCorps.

Jacob Kilgore is a Montana Campus Corps AmeriCorps Member serving at Dawson Community College in Glendive and is originally from Bowdon, Georgia. He serves as a Campus Corps team leader, which means he recruits, organizes, and manages the team of volunteers at Dawson Community College. He believes that community service is a fundamental aspect of citizenship and by partaking in the liberties provided by our country, we are obligated to give back in some way, form, or fashion.

Carrie Johnson is an Energy Corps AmeriCorps Member from Kalispell serving with Opportunity Link in Havre. As an Energy Corps member, Carrie has coordinated community-wide energy fairs, energy efficiency workshops, and helped weatherize nearly 100 households. She is currently helping implement and expand recycling opportunities in Hill and Blaine Counties. She believes her time with AmeriCorps will bring her a greater understanding of the energy industry as well as Montana culture. She most highly values her Energy Corps AmeriCorps position because of the people met and helped.

Sean Bibus is an AmeriCorps VISTA serving with Montana Legal Services Association at the Great Falls Job Service Workforce Center in Great Falls. Sean is originally from Minnesota and he hopes to gain experience in the nonprofit world through AmeriCorps in order to start a career helping people. As a VISTA he works to expand the self-sustainability classes for Great Falls Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) recipients to better prepare participants to re-enter the work force successfully.

Valerie Hingston is a Montana Conservation Corps (MCC) AmeriCorps Member serving in the Western Wildlands Region out of Missoula. Valerie serves as Senior Youth Crew Leader with MCC and this is her second term of service. The benefits of the training provided by MCC and the experience of leading young adults on resource conservation projects in the woods was more than she imagined when she came into the program. She hopes to promote AmeriCorps and the Montana Conservation Corps as an option for all young adults. Valerie is from Concord, Massachusetts.

Jordan Brown is an AmeriCorps VISTA serving with Rural Employment Opportunities in Helena. Originally from Rochester, NY, Jordan was motivated to serve in Montana because of a love for people and an interest to travel to places off the beaten path, where the best stories are usually found. Through his work forming job networks for low-income workers in small communities across the state, he has realized that Montana has many stories, which have made his time in the state well worth it.
