About The Wiki

Why a wiki?
ACMAC has 100% turnover every year. For that reason, it's been hard to retain institutional memory. We also have a very limited budget for printing materials.

The wiki is the fastest, easiest, and most inexpensive way to provide thorough, up-to-date information to the AmeriCorps members we serve.

What's on it, anyway?
We want to make the ACMAC wiki a one-stop-shop for all of our members, as well as the broader AmeriCorps community. We've added information about all of our service days, including The Service Day Survival Guide. We're also making an archive of our newsletter, compiling training materials, information about towns in Montana for incoming members, and discussion forums.

Finding Information
The easiest place to get started is the sidebar on the left-hand side of the page. These broad categories should cover everything on the site. There's also a search field in the top right corner, and under "How to use this site," there's an option to list all pages on the site.

Signing Up and Logging In
You don't need to be logged in to view the site. But to edit pages, you will need one. If you don't have an account yet, hit the 'Join!' button at the top of the left-hand side bar.

Creating and Editing Pages
To edit pages in this site, make sure you're logged in, then simply click on edit button at the bottom of the page. This will open an editor.

To create a link to a new page, type: new page name or text to display. Follow the link to create a new page and instantly edit it.

You can preview your pages to see what the page will look like. When you're done, hit 'save,' and be sure to include a brief description of your change. (One of the great things about the wiki is the 'history' tab, where you can view earlier versions of each page).

The best way to get comfortable with the wiki is to start using it!
